OPPO is a Chinese electronics and mobile communication company which offers very good smartphones with reasonable prices compared to other smartphone brands in the market. The logic is that they manage that cost by buying 2- 3 tier hardware and use hardware that doesn’t qualify for tier 1 specification. This actually results in the product having a maximum life of 2 – 3 years.
Recently OPPO launched their new mid-range smartphone, OPPO RENO 6 5G. In this blog I’ve covered each and every minute specifications details and I assure you’ll get to know everything about the phone and you’ll be able to tell if this phone is for you or not after reading this blog.
The rumors about this smartphone says that there is another OPPO RENO 6 4G sibling silently released in Indonesian market. And you won’t believe it: SD 720G with price almost similar to Poco F3 with SD 870 chipset. If this comes out to be true then I think what OPPO was thinking is beyond understanding.

THE ULTIMATE REVIEW OF OPPO RENO 6 5G
LAUNCH INFO
OPPO RENO 6 5G was announced 27 May, 2021 by the company officially and it was launched by the company on June 11, 2021 but due to some reason this phone’s availability was delayed and it’s not yet available on online stores but you can pre-order it now.

This is a 5G smartphone and this phone is a very good choice if you are looking for a mid-range smartphone with 5G connectivity.

BODY/ BUILD QUALITY
If you look deeper into the build quality of OPPO RENO 6 5G, it has a decent build quality with plastic frame and stuff. As this is a mid-range smartphone, obviously you won’t get that premium flagship smartphone build quality.
The dimensions of this phone is pretty same as other recently launched smartphones. OPPO RENO 6 5G’s dimensions – 156.8 x 72.1 x 7.6 mm (6.17 x 2.84 x 0.30 inches) and this phone weighs about 182 grams (6.42 oz).
Most of the people nowadays prefer OPPO smartphones because their smartphones have pretty cool and beautiful designs and the significant upgrade is most probably the design nowadays and that’s a big selling point as the mobile gadgets are into fashionable products too.
SIM – OPTIONS
You can insert 2 Nano-SIM in OPPO RENO 6 5G as it has Dual SIM slots in it with dual standby mode.
DISPLAY
The OPPO RENO 6 5G has a AMOLED display of 90Hz maximum refresh rate with 430 nits (typ), 600 nits (HBM), 750 nits (peak) brightness. This display is of a pretty decent quality in this price range.
It has a display size of 6.43 inches that is 99.8cm² and the screen to body ratio of the phone is approximately equal to 88.3%.
The screen resolution of this smartphone is 1080 x 2400 pixels with 408 approximate ppi density. Corning Gorilla glass 5 protection has been provided for the screen. The overall display quality is good in this price range.
PLATFORM
OPPO RENO 6 5G has the latest Android version that is Android 11. It has the colorOS 11.3 and the function of the smartphone is pretty smooth.
This phone is powered by MediaTek MT6877 Dimensity 900 5G chipset which is based on 6 nm technology.
CPU – Octa-core (2×2.4 GHz Cortex-A78 & 6x 2.0 GHz Cortex-A55)
GPU – Mali-G78 MC4
MEMORY
This phone provides no option of microSD card slot. Nowadays many smartphone brands are doing this and perhaps in the upcoming days no phone will be having a microSD card slot. This has been done because the phone’s inbuilt storage is sufficient to store all your data and files as they offer the smartphones with either 128GB or 256GB storage.
Based on the internal storage there are 2 variants of OPPO RENO 6 5G.
- 128GB + 8GB RAM (UFS 2.1)
- 256GB + 12GB RAM (UFS 2.1)
OPPO is offering 12GB RAM and 8GB RAM in their mid-range smartphones but the disappointing thing is that other smartphone brands are already using UFS 2.2. At this point, OPPO is still using UFS 2.1, which is the same in OPPO RENO 5 too.
MAIN CAMERA
Most of the OPPO smartphones are said to be camera centric smartphones but this is actually something else because the camera is not competing here, instead the performance is competing.
The cameras of this phone are literally identical to OPPO RENO 5.
The OPPO RENO 6 5G has a triple camera setup with a LED flash, HDR and Panorama options.
- 64MP, f/1.7, 26mm for wide angle shots.
- 8MP, f/2.2, 119° camera for ultrawide shots.
- 2MP, f/2.4 for macro shots.
Using the main camera of this phone you can capture videos in 4K@30fps, 1080p@30/60fps.
SELFIE CAMERA
This phone has a single selfie camera of 32MP, f/2.4 using it you can capture the wide angle shots easily and the group selfie and panorama shots can easily be captured.
Using the front facing camera of this smartphone you can capture videos in 1080p@30fps.
SOUND
This smartphone has a very good speaker quality. There is no headphone jack available. This is the reason nowadays all the smartphone brands have started to manufacture their own wireless earphones.

OPPO RENO 6 5G has a Li-Po battery of 4300 mAh capacity which is non removable. This phone supports 65W SuperVooc 2.0 fast charging.
PRICE
This is a mid-range smartphone with decent pricing. It costs around 360 EUR, if we look into Indian pricing.
- 8GB RAM + 128 GB – ₹ 29,990.
- The 12GB RAM variant will probably not be sold in India but am not pretty sure about it. The cost of this variant will be within 35000 inr but not sure about it.
