MIUI 13 FEATURES – DEVICES TO GET MIUI 13 UPDATE

Share

This blog is all about the new MIUI 13, the changes which have been done to MIUI 13 are most vital when you compare it with MIUI 12 and MIUI 12.5.

The updates in the MIUI 13 are minor, not much major changes are noticed, but in some regions you notice some big changes about which I’m going to explain in the later part of the blog.

Read this blog till the end because I’m going to tell you the roadmap of which phone will be having this update and also the features I liked, there were a lot of bugs in MIUI 12 and 12.5 update, let’s see if MIUI 13 has them or they have been set right!!

MIUI 13 DESIGN

New Font

Firstly let’s take a look into MIUI 13’s design, Xiaomi has launched it’s independent font named MiSans, and I personally didn’t like it, it is available in English and Chinese as well and it’s minimalistic, some of you may like the way it looks.

Dynamic Widgets

New dynamic Widgets have been added too, they were there earlier if I recall, but now they are dynamic, the weather widget attracted me the most, it works pretty well, if it is raining then the widget will actually show it raining through it’s raining animation. It’s a small touch but it’s pretty impressive.

You get to see some new widgets like, remainder widgets, which are a new addition that can remind you to do basic things like drinking water etc.

New MIUI 13 WALLPAPERS

I’m pretty impressed with these new wallpapers which have been specially designed for Xiaomi phones, you get 50 new wallpapers, but some wallpapers are really impressive. For example the blooming wallpaper when you unlock the phone it will actually show flowers blooming which is very convincing.

Xiaomi claims that these wallpapers have been shot in 8K time-lapse and have been converted into wallpaper. To be honest with you they look good.

Privacy Protection

If we look at the privacy or security features, I am not pretty sure about the privacy features whether it will launch in India, but the Chinese variants have them. For example, normally in face unlock it only captures you face, so if you have a twin they might be able to unlock it too.

But in this update, it also reads your bodily features above the waist, so the security has increased.

I’ve not tried it but I’m hoping only one twin can unlock the phone.

Fraud Protection

This is one of the new features that has been added with this update and I would say it’s a good move by Xiaomi. In fraud protection, when you visit a website or download an app that might have malware, so they’ve created a database through which they match the data and are aware of the malware, this is likely to be called the inbuilt fraud protection feature of MIUI 13.

Unfortunately I don’t think this feature will be rolled out to Indian devices. It’ll be interesting to see how they actually implement this if it comes to India.

Private Watermark Feature

I’m very sure that this feature is going to be rolled out in Indian variants. The private watermark feature can help you in many ways. In this feature when you send sensitive information like documents or your ID which it will watermark automatically so that they don’t misuse the information, so the receiver will receive the documents with a watermark, I personally believe this feature is very useful.

Only MIUI stable built smartphones will get this feature, according to me.

Faster Performance

There has been an improvement in the performance. In 3rd party apps, in MIUI 13 they have reduced the frame drops by 52% and 23% in the native apps. This is impressive.

MIUI 13 Mi Magic Centre

Xiaomi has brought some new connective features, but for the connected features there should be the whole ecosystem of Xiaomi like the Mi bands, watches, TV, Mi home etc. But if you have the whole ecosystem, there’s a good feature in which you can watch videos on your TV that you watch on your phone, you can drag the icon on TV and it’ll pop up on your TV.

You can also listen to music on Mi home with just a drag. They have introduced this type of smart connectivity option, but within the Mi ecosystem. This feature is called Mi Magic Centre, there’s no magic in this smartphone for sure but there’s smartness!

MIUI 13 Vs MIUI 12 & 12.5

Personally when I compare MIUI 13 with MIUI 12 the privacy and performance are brilliant and a lot of bugs have been worked upon with a performance boost. So I think that’s quite good.

One thing I noticed in Xiaomi 12 was they do not send ads of the system apps. Already Xiaomi has a lot of 3rd party apps, so it’ll be interesting to see if the ads reduce at all when it comes to India.

MIUI 13 ELIGIBLE DEVICES

This is a very interesting part of this blog. Let’s see who will get the first batch of MIUI 13. If you have a phone from the 11 series and the Xiaomi 12 then it’s good news for you, because you’ll be one of the first to get it. You’ll get MIUI 13 priority by the end of February or the first week of March.

Talking about the first quarter of the year February, March and April, along with the 11 series you’ll also get the update if you have Mi pad 5 and along with it Redmi 10 and 8 series is also eligible, so in the first quarter it’ll be Xiaomi 12 and 11.

In the 2nd and 3rd quarter the rest will get the update. It is going to take time, so I hope they don’t waste time on the early access versions, they should fix the bugs right away and rollout the update.

SOME OF THE FIRST PHONES WHICH WILL GET UPDATES IN THE FIRST QUARTER

  • Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite
  • Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra
  • Xiaomi Mi 11X
  • Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro
  • Xiaomi 11T Pro
  • Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max
