INTRODUCTION

Today am going to review the recently launched OnePlus flagship smartphone that is ONEPLUS 9R. This phone was launched before some couple of weeks and according to the expers this is the best OnePlus smartphone till this date. Prior to this the brand had launched the regular OnePlus 9 and 9 pro, this R series is a brand new innovation by OnePlus. This Smartphone has a very good build quality i would say and this R series phone comes with low pricing compared to other OnePlus regular flagship smartphones.

UNBOXING EXPERIENCE OF ONEPLUS 9R

• The box of this 9R is huge i would say which is red in colour and the box looks decent compared to any other brands smartphone boxes.
• On the box we get to see a big 9R logo and at the side of the box we have a OnePlus branding with a main highlight of 5G and it says NEVER SETTLE.

• OnePlus 9R is sort of exclusive to India and this is almost very close to the OnePlus 8T i would say.
• If we open the box we get to see a white layout in which there is a manual, warrenty guide and lots of paper work
• OnePlus phone boxes have bunch of booklets in them with a letter which is written by their CEO. 
• In the box we get a back case which is almost transperent on which there is a quote of NEVER SETTLE.
• The phone inside the box looks pretty awesome and it is wrapped with a protective cover.
• Obviously there is a tiny sim ejector tool.
• The great thing about OnePlus phones is that we get that powerful chargers inside the box which is a very good thing. We get a 65W fast charher inside the box of OnePlus 9R which almost charges the device in about 40 mins from 0 to 100.
• We get a OnePlus branded USB C type cable inside the box.

PHYSICAL OVERVIEW OF ONEPLUS 9R

• This OnePlus 9R comes with matte finish which actually enhances the premium look of the phone.

• The screen gaurd on this phone is pre applied.
• OnePlus 9R comes in following colours.

• This OnePlus 9R is very similar to the OnePlus 9 pro i would say.

• One nice thing about this OnePlus 9R is that the outer shield is metallic aluminium but in regular OnePlus 9 whose is 10000/- more than OnePlus 9R actually comes with fiber plastic outer shield. This is the major thing to be noticed.

• The screen quality of this device is brilliant because it has that Gorilla glass 5 protection both at front and back.
• This OnePlus 9R comes with 6.5″ fluid AMOLED, 120Hz, HDR 10+ screen.

• At the top of the device there is a secondary noise cancellation microphone
• At the right side of the phone there is a alert slider (the complaint about this is that  hardly any fiction is noticed)
• Below the alert slider there is a power on off button.
• At the bottom there is a speaker grill (sereo speakers, Primary speaker at the top and a secondary speaker at the bottom). According to me the speakers of OnePlus 9 pro are better in sound producing compared to this OnePlus 9R.
• Beside the speaker grill we get to see a charging port and a sim tray.
• In this sim tray we can add two nano sims(dual) but we don’t have micro SD cards on OnePlus device as of now.
• At the left side of the phone we have a volume rocker.
• The back of OnePlus 9R comes with matte finish and it does resist the finger prints but its not as resistant as the pro version, but does resist quite a bit.
• As i said before the build quality is pretty good compared to that regular OnePlus 9 pro. It feels premium because of this metallic body, it’s not plastic like the OnePlus 9 pro.
• Inhand feel is awesome i would say.
• This phone comes with 4500 mAh battery which supports 65W fast charging which charges your phone within 40 minutes from zero to hundred (0 – 100)

• This phone has a indisplay fingerprint scanner, this fingerprint scanner works very fast and very smoothly. If you want you can change the fingerprint gestui in the settings, the fingerprint scanner is very responsive compared to other brand smarphones which comes with indisplay fingerprint scanner. The one minute rhing I’ve noticed is that guys the OnePlus pro’s indisplay fingerprint scanner is at the very bottom and OnePlus 9R’s is positioned perfectly and very convenient to unlock compared to OnePlus 9 pro.

INTERNAL SPECIFICATIONS OF ONEPLUS 9R

• OnePlus 9R comes in three varients amoung which only two varients are available in India as of now. This phone comes with 8GB RAM + 128GB STORAGE (USF 3.1), 8GB RAM + 256GB(USF 3.1), 12GB RAM+ 256GB(USF 3.1). The one with 8GB RAM + 256GB STORAGE isn’t available in India as for now.
• This phone is powerd by Qualcomm Snapdragon 870, this is literally 865++ i would say because, no much difference is noticed in performance.

• This phone has 5G connectivity, only kne band of 5G is supported in this device, that is very clear guys.
• The UI is clean and no complaints about it, not as clean or very near to the stock android but yea it’s quite clean compared to other brand smarphones.
• The phone runs smoothly guys because of this 120Hz refresh rate. By default it was set to 120Hz, but you can set it to 90Hz or 60Hz but i do advice to use this device with 120Hz refresh rate because it makes the touches smooth and gives that fluid feel.
• No junk apps can be seen to be honest. Thats very impressive to me.
• The device runs on Oxygen OS.

• This OnePlus 9R has that latest Android 11 version and i hope they release the Android 12 update very soon.
• The good thing is that, no lags are noticed while gaming on this phone and no heating issues on this device, ofcourse this SNAPDRAGON 870 chipset optimises the device very well to prevent heating and lags while playing heavy games.

• Useful apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Facebook, Instagram were pre-installed on this device, you can ofcourse uninstall it easily if you don’t prefer them.
• CPU present bon this deviy is Octa-core.
• GPU – ADRENO 650.
• NFC option is present.
• No radio apps were pre installed inside the device, but if you prefer that you can install it from the Google PlayStore.
• The Bluetooth on this device is 5.1

• OnePlus 9R – 5.5°C was increased.

• Samsung Galaxy Z fold 2 – 6.5°C was increased.

Scores 

• OnePlus 9 Pro – 1097

The summary of this Benchmark test was that, since OnePlus 9 Pro has a powerful latest processor – Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 this phones Benchmark score was high. Second was Samsung Galaxy Z fold 2 which has a processor – Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+.

Last was OnePlus 9R, this was quite disappointing because it’s processor is Qualcomm Snapdragon 870+ but Samsung Galaxy Z fold 2 surpassed OnePlus 9R in Benchmark SCORE.

CAMERA OF ONEPLUS 9R

• OnePlus 9R has a quad camera setup.
• Main camera is 48MP, fortunately this has the optical image stabilization. This regular OnePlus 9 Pro which is  rupees 10000/- more than the price of OnePlus 9R doesn’t have optical stabilization.
• There is a 16MP Ultrawide camera + 5MP macro + 2 MP for depth.
• Front facing camera is 16MP, which is a punch hole camera.
• The video recording is highlighted by the brand as pro video recording. 4K video recording could be done using broth front and back camera.

To be frank the camera is not that good guys because compared to the camera of OnePlus 8 series phones its not good and this is very disappointing. At this price range the camera would have been better.

• If we compare the cameras of OnePlus 9 Pro and OnePlus 9R, OnePlus 9 Pro wins guys because, there are some image processing delays on OnePlus 9R compared to Oneplus 9 Pro specially during the night mode clicks.
